Avidyne Entegra Student Simulator
Master the Avidyne Entegra Glass Flight Deck System on the Ground ... By Practicing the Same Way You’ll Use it In the Air
The acclaimed Avidyne Entegra flight deck system brings integrated flight deck technology into the cockpits of retrofitted business and general aviation aircraft.
The Flight1 Aviation Technologies Avidyne Entegra Student Simulator provides individual pilots and flight schools with Entegra avionics training in a realistic, dynamic simulation environment. It is a software add-on for Microsoft® Flight Simulator 2004, Flight Simulator X, and Microsoft® ESP™. (Support for Lockheed Martin® Prepar3D™ is coming soon.)
It’s so realistic, in fact, that it’s endorsed by Avidyne.
If you’re new to flying Technologically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) equipped with complex glass avionics like the Entegra, you’ll want to:
- Learn the aircraft systems and basic avionics via books, manuals, videos, part-task trainers, or online courseware.
- Learn your way around the PFD/MFD glass avionics environment using a part-task trainer like our FITS-accepted Entegra EXP5000 PFD Courseware, or the Entegra Freeplay Simulator available from Avidyne.
- Use a flight simulator or flight training device to master using the avionics in the context of realistic flight scenarios.
- Transfer all of your new skills to a real airplane.
Many students and flight schools skip over Step 3—flight simulation—because they can’t afford an Avidyne-based flight simulator
That’s unfortunate, because simulation is one of the most effective ways to engage in Scenario-Based Training (SBT) and develop Single-Pilot Resource Management (SRM) skills. SBT and SRM are two of the core tenets of the new FAA/Industry Training Standards (FITS), which have been proven to develop safer, more proficient pilots.
The Avidyne Entegra Student Simulator is for you if you are:
- A flight school owner or manager. The Entegra Student Simulator, VISPRO, Scenario Builder, ESP, and cockpit hardware can be combined to build a cost-effective simulator that can provide a far more immersive experience than a stand-alone Entegra avionics simulation.
- An independent flight or ground instructor. The Entegra Student Simulator combined with VISPRO and ESP gives you the ability to train students on the ground just like you would in an airplane, at a lower cost to students, and with greater flexibility.
- A student pilot, a private pilot, or a commercial pilot. Combine the Entegra Student Simulator with Flight Simulator 2004 or Flight Simulator X and you’ll have an effective environment in which to learn and master this complex technology—for a fraction of what it would cost to practice in your own aircraft or in a rental.
An Avionics Simulator … and More
Unlike part-task trainers (like the Entegra Freeplay Simulator available from Avidyne), the Entegra Student Simulator works together with Flight Simulator 2004, Flight Simulator X, or Microsoft ESP to provide an immersive training experience. The Entegra Student Simulator provides a rich avionics simulation, and Flight Simulator 2004, Flight Simulator X, or ESP provides an unmatched aircraft and environmental simulation. By combining both, you can learn and master the Entegra in the same cognitive environment in which you’ll use it. You’ll have to manage the avionics while simultaneously managing the challenges of flying an airplane.
Too Many Features to List
The Flight1 Tech Entegra simulation is presented via highly realistic 2D instrument panels integrated into four add-on aircraft simulations for Flight Simulator 2004, Flight Simulator X, or ESP:
- Cirrus SR22
- Piper PA32 6X
- Piper PA28 Warrior III
- Piper PA44 Seminole
(No 3D virtual cockpit or external 3D models are included. While these realistic add-on aircraft feature realistic flight models and sounds, they are primarily platforms for serious aircraft-specific avionics training.)
The Entegra Student Simulator lets you learn and master most features of the real Entegra Flight Deck System, including both the PFD and the MFD.
Primary Flight Display (PFD)
Some key components of the EXP5000 PFD that are modeled include:
- Integrated EHSI. Entegra’s Electronic Horizontal Situation Indicator (EHSI) is integrated with VLOC/GPS and provides synchronized switching and display of lateral and vertical guidance as you transition to the approach phase. The EHSI can be viewed in a standard 360-degree compass rose or in a 180-degree forward view. You can also display bearing pointers and a basic moving map display—right on the EHSI.
- Trend Vectors. 6-second trend vectors for airspeed, altitude, and heading give you the precision and reduced workload of avionics normally only found on air transport and corporate jets.
- Integrated autopilot. The PFD can be coupled with the included Garmin GNA 340 autopilot for altitude preselect, vertical speed select, and heading select modes.
- Primary engine instrument display. Critical engine data is displayed on the PDF during startup.
- Wind vector. An integrated air data computer provides you with an instantaneous wind vector. This makes it easy to find an optimum altitude for cruise, or to correct for wind during an approach or while flying a pattern.
Multi Function Display (MFD)
The Entegra Student Simulator also features a highly-realistic simulation of the EX5000C MFD, including:
- Map Display. Arguably the most advanced yet easy-to-use large-format map available for general aviation aircraft, the Entegra Map Display is one of its most recognizable—and useful—features. The Entegra Student Simulator map includes most of the features of the real thing:
- North Up, Center, and Forward views
- Decluttering
- Terrain
- Obstacles
- Traffic and warnings, using realistic symbology and aural alerts
- Airports and runways
- Airways
- Airspace including Special Use, Class B, Class C, Class D, and Tower Zones
- Navaids including fixes, VORs, and NDBs
- Terrain Avoidance Warning System (TAWS). The Entegra Student Simulator features a functional dedicated TAWS page, with range annunciation, a moving scan marker, Peaks mode elevations, range rings, terrain data, azimuth lines, and geometric altitude displayed. Terrain and obstacle alerts are also simulated.
- Trip Page. Continuously updated during flight, the Trip page provides useful data regarding the planned route of flight including current ground speed and track, crosstrack deviation, the time, flight plan waypoint data, and more.
- Nearest Page. The Nearest page makes it easy to get detailed information about the airports, VORs, NDBs, intersections, and obstacles within 100 NM of your position. An Airport Info sub-page provides the airport elevation and communication frequencies for a selected airport, as well as a runway diagram.
- Checklists. Like the real Entegra in the Cirrus SR22, the Entegra Student Simulator can display all of the aircraft’s Normal and Emergency checklists, as well as performance data tables and charts, right on the MFD. It also includes the ability to mark individual items as “Done.”
- EMax Engine Indication System. The intuitive EMax Engine Indication System simplifies fuel and power management by displaying an graphical fuel totalizer, a percent power display, computed NM/gallon, fuel remaining, fuel to next waypoint, and fuel to destination. Also monitored and displayed are temperatures, pressures, RPM, fuel flow, OAT, and electrical bus voltages. A “lean assist” mode makes leaning for Best Power or Best Economy easy.
Our Entegra Student Simulator is so realistic we encourage you to use the real manuals to learn how to use it.
You’ll also have to dive into the manufacturer’s manuals to master using the many other simulations included:
